In 2009 Dover Castle was refurbished to appear as it would have looked when it was built by Henry II
The above books were commissioned be English Heritage specially for this project and are accurate replicas of the Romanesque style of binding (ie 1150-1180)
This is a slightly later “Gothic” binding, ie 1300-1400 (ish) -but is presented as a rebinding of an earlier book (The 4 Gospels)
